Its NOT a diet!!

I was listening to the radio this morning after I’d delivered my 6 kids to their 4 different schools, and the dj was talking about her friend who had said she was “on a diet”. The woman was saying “Oh girl, I feel for you! Been there, done that!”

That little exchange got me thinking about how we view healthy eating. Its like a vacation from “regular” eating, or unhealthy lifelong patterns, and not a true lifestyle shift, as it needs to be. Our country is in a bad way regarding obesity. Its at an all time high, and according the Center of Disease Control, more than 200 million Americans are obese or overweight!

And though “drop 20 lbs in 6 days” diets are making millions of dollars, still obesity rates continue to soar. Something’s wrong with how we eat, and WHAT we eat as a nation.

But if we get it our of our heads that eating healthy isnt a short term thing we’ve been calling a “diet” for years, but rather a shift in how we eat. How we eat individually and as a nation has brought us to the place of unhealth that has caused us to be sick and unhealthy and inactive. So when you purchase one of our programs, take full advantage of the nutrition plan that comes with it! :)

Then one by one, we’ll change the trends of obesity; starting with YOU and ME. :)

The Perfect Push Up

I travel around the country with Tony Horton hosting his Tony Horton Fitness Camps, where people come from all over the country to come to meet him, workout with him LIVE, and sit in on his fitness seminars. One of his seminars is called “Form and Function” where he shows proper form and answers all sorts of questions (many having to do with YOGAX ;) ). A common theme that we’ve noticed among women is the frustration at “not being able” to do a push up.

One of the most empowering moments is when women get called up on stage and Tony shows them a variety of ways to do a push up, as they increase their strength at whatever point they are at in their fitness journey. Time and time again, women experience a push up for the very first time under the watchful eye of Tony Horton – what a great memory! :)

A common struggle for people in push ups has to do with wrist issues. Tony’s been a trainer for over 25 years, and after training celebrities, pro ball players, and the average person like you and me, he found a real need for a sturdy push up stand that really gives the wrist a break (figuratively, not literally ;) ) and puts the pressure on the muscles to do the work, not unnecessary strain on the wrists! The other day I was pressed for time but felt a higher level of stress than normal. I have something in my head that tells me that a workout short of at least 30 minutes doesn’t really “count”. But the truth is, if I only have 10 minutes, isnt going all out for 10 minutes far better than sitting and worrying, wringing my hands, eating something I shouldn’t, or something else that is contrary to feeling better? YOU BET IT IS!

Just ask Tony Horton; who says “If you give me 10 Minutes, I’ll help you get in shape!”

So you’ve been working out to one of our workout routines and you arent seeing the weight loss that you were hoping. Is it Day 12? Day 20? Remember, programs like Power90 and Slim in 6 are not 2 week programs for a reason! Maybe it took you YEARS to get into the unhealthy state you’re in. Give your body the necessary time it needs to get it to a state of optimal health and well being. That takes TIME. That takes CONSISTENCY. That takes YOU NOT GIVING UP!

Truth be told, 6 weeks or 90 days are going to pass anyway. Why not MAKE THEM COUNT?!?!

Keep looking at that dreaded BEFORE picture! The only thing that stands between you and your awesome AFTER picture is time, consistency, and stickin to it!

Who do you want to be come day 90? :) GO AFTER IT!!

Finding The Time

Life with 6 kids and a home business takes a lot of time. My day typically starts out at 5:30am and ends at about 10:30pm. A full day of taking care of a lot of things – mostly all good things – but that take up TIME, nonetheless. I often hear from people that they’re concerned they don’t have enough time in the day to fit a WORKOUT into their day. That’s the beauty of the 10 Minute Trainer program.

While you may not have a full 45 minutes in a row to schedule the time to workout; odds are you have three to four 10 minute segments in your day to squeeze in a workout! Your health is worth it, and now you have no more excuses not to make exercise a part of your every day!

This weeks goal is…..

Today is Saturday, January 9, 2010.

When Monday, January 11, 2010 rolls around in two days, I want YOU to have set a 7 day goal for yourself.
Write it down and hold yourself accountable. Leave me a message on my facebook wall (Traci Crawford Morrow) what your goal is this week.
Make it simple and doable, and COMMIT to see it through.
You can do anything for 7 days, right?

sample goal:

workout with your program 6/7 days
No soda
No cigarette’s
7 days of eating a clean breakfast (example: 5 egg whites, 1/2 cup oatmeal sweetened with one packet of truvia and 1/4 cup blueberries, black coffee)

Then, come Monday January 18, 2010, I want you to write how you did on my facebook wall along with your NEW 7 day goal.

String 13 weeks together of that and you’ve completed P90X or P90X+ broken down into 13 – 7 day mini goals set and MET!

I want you to succeed!
Make YOUR goal today – and WRITE IT DOWN!!

New Year – New YOU!

What do you REALLY want from 2010 regarding your health and fitness?
